Advanced Placement Studio Art

Course Units: 0.5

In this full-year, full-credit course, students complete the requirements of the AP Studio Art portfolio program, which calls for a large body of art work to fulfill the categories of quality, concentration (a self-designed, year-long project), and breadth (covering a wide variety of art problems). Students meet daily to work on class assignments, to participate in group critiques, and to create independent AP projects.  Additionally, AP students work for a minimum of one hour daily in the art room or at home. The Advanced Placement Studio Art Program is available to seniors who have completed two or more intermediate art courses and who submit a portfolio for review by the visual-arts faculty. This course is given when enrollment is sufficient and staff is available.
