Advanced Dance
Course Units: 0.25
This course is designed for the dance student who is technically proficient in one or more of the dance disciplines: modern, jazz, and/or ballet. All three techniques are studied at the intermediate and advanced levels. Composition and choreography are part of the curriculum. Dancers work with a number of choreographers, developing the students’ ability to execute a variety of dance techniques. A major performance is given during the second semester; seniors and qualified juniors design an independent choreography project for this performance. Field trips to professional dance concerts in the San Francisco Bay Area may also be included in the course. Prerequisite: demonstrable technical proficiency. Satisfies P.E. requirement.
