Graduation Requirements

Each year-long academic course receives one unit of credit.  Semester academic courses earn 1/2 unit, and most fine arts courses earn 1/4 unit per semester.  A minimum of 17 units, distributed as outlined below, is required for graduation.  In addition to credit-earning courses, students are required to take the non-credit courses/activities listed below.

(b) In rare cases, this requirement may be met by two years of two languages.
(c) World Civilizations, Western Civilization, U.S. History
(d) Physical Science, Chemistry, Biology
(e) Sophomores and juniors may petition the Athletic Department to have an outside physical activity satisfy the requirement.
(f) Students may petition, as either juniors or seniors, to substitute a college trip/tour for one year of Intraterm.

Math and world languages courses and Chemistry/Biology are sequential, and as a rule, students go through the sequence without a break.  For other courses, recommendations as to grade level and prerequisites are listed in the catalog and should be followed.
