Course Overview:
Adapt , Migrate, or Die!
• To qualify for A.P. Biology, you should have a strong interest in living things, a B+ or better in introductory Biology, excellent reading comprehension, ability to think and write clearly, and strong organizational skills.
• AP Biology is demanding. This is a rigorous course designed to provide a stimulating exposure to in depth aspects of life science. Emphasis is placed on the development of college level communication skills such as essay writing and critical thinking.
• The course is also laboratory oriented. Students are encouraged to be well-prepared and knowledgeable concerning proper use of lab equipment. Some labs will require competence with computer data collection and analysis. In addition, a major project on animal behavior is assigned during the spring semester.
• This course will prepare students to take the College Board Advanced Placement Examination, which enables them to receive college credit in biology if they pass the exam at appropriate levels.
