| "Well, being the only boy in the school who plays both basketball and
tennis, the transition from one to the other is never very easy. I
always have to miss the first couple of weeks of tennis because of
basketball commitments. I felt, because my position on the basketball
team isn't too important, that I might be able to skip the last two
weeks of basketball in exchange for my main sport: tennis. But, I
realized that once I made a commitment to basketball, I had to see it
through no matter what. CPS athletics, to me, has been an extremely
important part of my high school career. Not only is it fun, but it
also gives me a way to unwind at the end of a long day of school. My
most memorable moment had to be last year during the tennis season,
when Kunal Raygor (06) and I won our match against Piedmont High
School. It was one of the 4 matches needed to clinch our team match
against Piedmont. Although we lost the first set, Kunal and I rallied
back to win the second and third sets in close points and great
finishes. Even though our team was missing our number 3 player, Vik C.
(07), our team managed to take down Piedmont High for the first time in
CPS history. This is one of the examples of the "never give up"
philosophy I find so recurrent in CPS sports." |
