Boys Var. Soccer splits last week

On Sept. 9th, the College Prep varsity team lost 4-1 to Head Royce a BCL-East league game. The only goal was scored by Brandon Smith, assisted by Freshman W McCall.

On Sept. 12th, the College Prep varsity soccer won 5-0 against Athenian a BCL-East League game. The game started very fast with the Cougars on the offensive, and the first goal came in the 52 seconds, scored by S. Engs with a beautiful header assisted by W. McCall. More attacks from the Cougars but no goals scored. The Athenian team was also on the offensive, but the Cougars defense stayed strong by not allowing many chances. The first half ended 1-0 in favor of College Prep. Cougars.

In the 43rd minutes of the second half, the second goal was scored by J. Mossop, assisted by W. McCall.  The third goal came in the 51st minute by J. Mossop, assisted by S. Engs.  To complete his hat trick, in the 63rd minute, the fourth goal was scored by J. Mossop assisted by D. Park. The fifth and final goal came in the 71st minute by B. Smith and assisted by W. McCall. C. Herzberg-Brovold, had four saves in the first half, and two saves in the second half. The College Prep Cougars defense newly reformed and lead by Junior N. Fraenkel, and two newly promoted Freshmen O. Smith, and J. Wang held up the Cougars defense. It was a good game and much deserved win.

In the BCL-East league, the Cougars are 1-1; overall results 1-3-1.  - Godwin Odiye
