Varsity Soccer loses a tough one in BCL-East Semi-Finals

Today, your mens soccer team faced off against Athenian in a tough match. The Cougars capitalized early and got a beautiful goal scored by freshman Oliver Smith.  On an excellent cross by midfielder Ian Reeves, Oliver headed the ball into the back of the net to put the Cougars up 1-0.  Later in the first half, however, Athenian finished on a lucky opportunity off a corner and tied the game 1-1.  The first half ended in a tie but we were eager to get back out in the second.  Unfortunately, early in the second half, Athenian scored on a hard, close shot after we failed to clear the ball from the box.  The Cougars were down 2-1.  With a strong effort on everybody's behalf for the remainder of the game, we struggled to get back at the Owls.  Although we successfully hit the goal post on multiple occasions, no goal came. It was not our finest showing, but it was definitely a hard fought game and it brought our season to an end.

We finished second in league.  Congratulate a soccer player on a job well done.
