CA School for the Deaf Meet Recap

The swim team woke up and contemplated their wardrobes. The possibilities may have been endless, but they believed the most appropriate clothes for the day were those meant for the pool. So, dressed in their swim suits and goggles the team arrived at school. Once four o’clock rolled around it was clear that the team had been ready for hours. The opponent was California School of the Deaf, a small but wonderful team from Fremont.
College Prep captured every event. As usual the pool was filled with smiles, handshakes, and fast moving strokes. However, when the boys and girls swam in the same 200 Medley Relay heat, it was clear that this meet had some surprises in store. Side by side the boys’ and girls’ A relays faced off. Ryan, Jon, Brett, and Grant beat Michelle, Sterling, Sara, and Alice by 7/10ths of a second. This race brought out some amazing splits. Grant swam a 25.8 for 50 free and Alice swam a 26.3. Carol Tran swam three events in the first heat. Her freestyle kick was impeccable. Adarsha swam a wonderful 100 Free and was able to beat the swimmer next to him. Sara and Emily duked it out in the 500 Free and finished within 4 seconds of each other. Neither of them had swum this yet this season, but they both executed it wonderfully. Jon also swam a great 500 (5:59.1). Both 200 Free relays swam great times (Callie, Sterling, Emily, Julie; Ryan, Brett, Jon, Grant). The B relay also swam wonderfully (Carol, Cat, Sara, Micaela). Brett swam an amazing 100 Breast, achieving a personal best by 2 seconds! Micaela swam today despite intense shoulder pain, so bring her a bag of ice tomorrow. Chelsea and Sophie were out with shoulder issues, but enjoyed cheering on their teammates.
Overall the meet was a success. Both the boys and girls won. Girls score: 109-25. Boys score: 60- 22.
We race Athenian on Thursday, at Mills, at 4. We always love having fans.
