Overcome by a fit of holiday cheer, the College Prep Swim Team took to the streets disguised as Santa, Elves, Candy Canes and Christmas Trees. Though Tuesday didn’t bring a white Christmas, it did mark the Swim Team’s last league meet of the season. Going into this meet the College Prep girls were undefeated. However, their opponent, Contra Costa Christian, was also looking to extend a perfect record.
The boys were missing Adarsha and only had four swimmers in this meet (just enough for one relay team). They prepared to face off against a much larger Contra Costa Christian team and didn’t hesitate to attack the races with gusto. The boys started off with a 200 Medley relay that went down to the wire. They were beaten by 33/100th of a second. Jonathon took 1st in the 200 Free and 500 free. Brett took 2nd in both the 200 IM and the 100 Breast. Ryan won 100 Back (1:05.61) and took 2nd in the 50 free. Grant took 1st in the 100 free by a wide margin (58.8) and won 3rd in the 200 freestyle. The boys finished the meet by winning the 400 Free relay. Despite a spectacular effort the boys lost with a final score of 51-72.
The girls kicked off the races by taking 1st and 3rd in the 200 Medley relay (Julie, Jenny, Sara, Sterling; Chelsea, Sophie, Michelle, Emily). Next the girls took 1st and 2nd in the 200 free (Alice, Sterling). Julie and Sara took 1st and 2nd in the 200 IM. The girls took 2nd and 3rd in the 50 free (Jenny, Callie). Alice, Michelle, and Sara won 1st, 2nd, and 3rd in the 100 fly. The girls captured 1st, 2nd, and 3rd in the 100 free (Sterling, Callie, Chelsea). Michelle and Sophie swam the 500 free and won 1st and 3rd. Sophie swam this 20 lap race with shoulder problems. The girls took 1st and 2nd in the 200 Free relay (Jenny, Emily, Callie, Alice; Micaela, Cat, Chelsea, Sophie). Micaela and Julie went on to win 1st and 2nd in the 100 back. Micaela won this race while recovering from both a sickness and shoulder injuries. Whoa Nellie! Sophie and Cat then took 2nd and 4th in the 100 breast. The meet finished up with the girls 400 free relays clinching 1st and 2nd (Michelle, Callie, Sterling, Alice; Sara, Emily, Julie, Micaela). On what was an off day for the girls time-wise they managed a respectable victory: 116- 47. They were able to finish their regular season undefeated and are prepared to focus the remainder of their energy on the upcoming Championship meet.
