BIG DAY FOR PREP AT BCLS!
COACHES HAVE MASSIVE PRIDE ATTACK x 42
Tuesday, November 11
Joaquin Miller Park, site of the annual BCL East cross country championship meet. A quintessential cross country day, cool and gray, to gallop across the infamous 2.6 mile course of A and B loops. Hella fans: friends, families, and faculty. Enthusiastic electricity in the air. Two hours of the remarkable Team Prep show! And for the first time all season, every member of both squads raced. 42 harriers working together toward team goals. Four teams. Four races. And what a day it was…
Three team championships! Two individual champions! Little victories galore! Mondo smiles! A few long faces, sadly, but let them be short lived.
The many fans in attendance were treated to some terrific team and individual performances. They got to witness firsthand what the sport is all about and what Prep XC is all about. Being anonymous is never an issue for a harrier, but it’s always fun to have an audience. The terrific team spirit, camaraderie, and abundant talents were fully on display. Thank you to the many fans that came to the meet!
Way to come up big, everyone! I couldn’t stop smiling inside. For two hours, my pride in you flooded my senses. The team spirit and support were spectacular. Your heart and determination were spectacular.
CONGRATULATIONS EVERYONE!
2:00 SARAH E FINALLY RACES AGAIN AND WINS AS JV GIRLS DELIVER MONDO IMPRESSIVE SHUT OUT!
I felt for the 6 girls not wearing College Prep uniforms in this race. What intimidation… An absolutely crushing team performance…lots of season best races as well as gutsy pieces, monster front pack…SWOOP! Way to go, ladies!

3:00 KAI TAKES INDIVIDUAL TITLE AS VARSITY GIRLS SYSTEMATICALLY CARVE THE LEAGUE
The day’s least mysterious race in terms of team standings, the girls’ machine-like consistency was once again on display. The front running trio all posted top 10 course times – yeow – and 22 points says it all. Way to go, ladies!

3:30 VARSITY BOYS: LOADS OF HEART, NOT ENOUGH HEALTH; EXTRAORDINARY TEAM EFFORT
In the day’s most meaningful race in terms of final league standings, just like last year, the boys controlled their own destiny, which can be a nice situation, but never an easy one, especially when health is an issue. It didn’t happen, but not for lack of effort. The most collective heart of the day went into this team effort. Some major pieces. Way to go, fellas!

Here’s to honor and glory…
Boys D-V race: 12:00 p.m. Girls D-V race: 1:30 p.m.
DON’T MESS…
Finally, the late hour prevents me from waxing poetically about each and every one of you, but know that I could write a book about each one of your efforts. A quick note: please keep the time comparisons from last year in perspective. If your time was faster, that’s cool and celebratory in and of itself – on a simple scale, it validates your good race. But if your time wasn’t faster, that does not invalidate the effort you put into your race today. There are so many reasons that could explain the time difference. If you were the best that you could be on this day, you can’t ask more of yourself. I applaud those of you who tried new strategies or ran without being 100% at this point of the season due, again, to the myriad reasons that conspire to make the simple act of running more complex. Bravo perspective! Bravo your collective efforts! Go team!
…WITH PREP!
