Freshman Community Service

Small groups of freshmen, along with their senior advisors, each spend four or five hours painting a house in Oakland. It's a good project because it helps freshmen get to know one another, get to know the ethic of the school and help out in our community.
We work with the city, which provides the paint and, so far, we have painted nine houses.
This year a new project freshmen worked on is beach clean-up. In their senior advisory groups, students go to the beach to pick up trash. This is part of the California Coastal Clean Up Program.
