Scout represents CPS at State Speech Championships in Sacramento
Kudos to Scout K. the only member of the CPS Individual Events team to make it to the State Speech Championships in Sacramento this past weekend. Of 149 student who participated in league level competitions throughout California , Scout was one of the 56 students who qualified for the Thematic Interpretation event in the Semi Finals at the State Championships. Of the 56 competitors, she ultimately ranked 14th with only seven students going on to the Finals.
Competing in the Thematic Interpretation division of the competition, Scout’s theme addressed feelings of inferiority and how individuals dealt with them. Her selections which included sign language, singing, and excerpts from three sources including Sylvia Plath, the novel Smashed, and a play, Deaf Day - were interwoven in a ten minute piece which she presented to a panel of judges.
Congratulations Scout on representing CPS so well at this statewide event.
