African-American Spirituals perform at CPS
This week CPS hosted Ms. Baham and Mr. Bell, professional singers who performed spirituals for CPS students.
Angela Dean Baham, soprano, and Martin Bell, baritone performed with CPS choral accompanist Victoria Theodore.
African-American Spirituals: Spirituals are songs that came out of the African-American slave experience.
Because of their expressive power, hundreds have survived over centuries.
Â
We were honored to have professional singers Angela Dean Baham, soprano, and Martin Bell, baritone,
come to campus to perform these moving songs for CPS students and talk about their history. CPS choral accompanist Victoria Theodore played piano.
