College Prep Welcomes Guest Choreographer, Eric Severson

Students learn the tango from guest choreographer, Eric Severson

Eric Severson joined College Prep as a guest choreographer this fall to work with twenty-two dance students focusing on the American tango. "Students were given the option to take this additional class and have shown both their commitment and their willingness to work with great dedication and passion, by dancing with Eric weekday evenings and weekends." says Stefani Berger, dance teacher. "Did I mention fun? They've had a great time doing the tango!".

Students performed at International Day, a campus event celebrating music and dance from around-the-world. Other chances to catch this performance are: October 25th at Multi-Cultural Evening and at the annual College Preparatory Dance Showcase Performance on May 2nd and 3rd. All events are open to everyone.

Guest choreographers are an integral part of the dance program at College Prep. Part of the educational goal in teaching and working with high-school students is to expose them to a variety of different styles and disciplines in dance. College Prep gives students an opportunity to personally work with artists. Choreographers join College Prep for 1-2 months to develop a new piece of choreography or to teach from the choreographers repertoire.
