CPS Swim Coach Honored

Kiet Tran receives Honor Coach award from NCS Commissioner, Tom Ehrhorn along with CPS Athletic Director, Linda Desimone.

Kiet Tran, head swim coach at The College Preparatory School, has been named the 2006 Honor Coach by the NCS (North Coast Section), out of 163 high schools. Acknowledged for his contribution to his sport, school and community, Tran accepted this honor on Saturday, May 20th at Heather Farms Swim Complex in Walnut Creek. Kiet joined CPS in 2000 as a science teacher and has been the Associate Athletic Director for three years. In addition to coaching swimming, he coaches the girls JV volleyball team and is respected across campus as an accomplished  leader within the Athletics Department. "The NCS award is a well-deserved honor for Kiet. He has developed The College Preparatory School's swim program into one of the most prestigious in our conference. He teaches his swimmers about developing as an athlete and enjoying the sport of swimming as a life-long lesson. Kiet creates a great team atmosphere that many coaches admire. I am very proud of him and the professionalism he bring to the department," states CPS Athletic Director, Linda Desimone.
