Livetalk: February 8 at 7:30pm
George Lakoff and Mark Danner in conversation Wednesday, February 8 at 7:30 p.m. Doors open at 7:00 p.m.
George Lakoff’s application of cognitive science and linguistics to
politics has brought him to national attention. With colleagues at the
University of California, Professor Lakoff founded the Rockridge
Institute, a new political think tank dedicated to reframing political
thought and political debate in this country. He will join Mark Danner,
writer, journalist and professor, who has written for more than two
decades on foreign affairs and international conflict, American foreign
policy, and human rights violations, for an evening of lively discourse
on the topic "Abuse of Power and the Politics We Live Now".
Livetalk is a stimulating, community-based lecture series, now in its 8th season. Each year Livetalk features 5-6 renown speakers in the intimate space of the Buttner Auditorium of The College Preparatory School. It is a completely volunteer-driven organization and all of its proceeds goes to financial aid for students. So far this year, Livetalk has featured Huston Smith, David Thomson, Peter Schwartz, Orville Schell and Xiao Qiang.
