Students excel in California Math League
CPS students have been actively participating in California Math League (CML) and American Mathematics Competition (AMC) this year. The College Preparatory School is currently in 12th place in the state in the California Math Leagues. Eight CPS students have competed in CML, two of whom are freshman.
Scoring is compiled after students take the CML. The top five scorers at each school are added up and that becomes the school's total. Each month, there are six problems on the CML, allowing for individual scores from 0 to 6. Thus, the maximum score a school can earn is 5 perfect sixes for a total of 30 points. In addition, an unprecedented 21 of the CPS students who took the AMC qualified for the AIME, the American Invitational Mathematics Exam, and a qualifier for the prestigious US Math Olympiad.
