Students place first in National French Contest

The CPS Language Department is pleased to announce that of the 45 students in the French program who took the «~Grand Concours~», an annual national competition sponsored by the American Association of Teachers of French (AATF), all placed in the top 10. They were evaluated for their written, oral, and listening comprehension of the French language. A celebration honoring these students and their achievements will be held, during which they will receive medals and other prizes.

“Le Grand Concours is an opportunity for our students to compete with over 100,000 students nationally - to put their French studies to the test after a rigorous academic year,” states Annie Jaisser, French teacher at CPS. “We are thrilled to see our students succeed in the top level of this contest.”

College Preparatory School seniors Liza F. and Nathan W., juniors Jennifer C. and Scout K., and freshman Rachel C. all placed first at their respective levels in the Northern California division. Nathan W. also placed first nationally at level IV and thus joins two previous 1st place national winners in the school’s recent history.

CPS provides opportunities to study French, Spanish, Japanese and Latin to advanced levels.
