Students take 9th place in statewide Math League

CPS students have been actively participating in California Math League (CML) and American Mathematics Competition (AMC) this year. The College Preparatory School scored 9th in the state, and second in the region in the California Math Leagues. This performance was the school's best in five years. Ten students earned perfect scores in CML, and two of these are freshmen.  This year, twenty-seven students competed.

Scoring is compiled after students take the five CML contests. The top five scorers at each school are added up and that becomes the school's total. Each month, there are six problems on the CML, allowing for individual scores from 0 to 6. Thus, the maximum score a school can earn is 5 perfect sixes for a total of 30 points. In addition, an unprecedented 21 of the CPS students who took the AMC qualified for the AIME, the American Invitational Mathematics Exam, and a qualifier for the prestigious US Math Olympiad.
