Edutopia, supported by the George Lucas Educational Foundation, is featuring College Prep in its Schools That Work series. Earlier this fall, Edutopia spent several days on our campus, creating a video that highlights collaborative learning at College Prep. “It is a tremendous honor for Prep to be featured in the company of exemplary schools from across the country,” said Monique DeVane, Head of School. “This is also a terrific opportunity for us to contribute to a national conversation about education.”
Focusing on evidenced-based successes, Edutopia provides how-to videos, actionable tip lists, and online resources such as research and lesson plans, to help educators learn from and replicate what’s working in education.
“Overall, I think The College Preparatory School is a great case study to show best practices in collaborative learning at one of the top independent schools in the nation. Discussion-
based English Language Arts and collaborative, problem-based math have been shown by extensive research to support student learning, and these practices can be replicated widely and align with Common Core standards,” said Dr. Vanessa Vega, Edutopia’s Research Analyst.
