Graduation Year: 2013
Middle School: Bentley
College: Northwestern University
Home Town: Oakland
Biggest difference between middle school and high school: One word: Independence. In high school I had to get used to the fact that I wasn't being watched every moment. I could go into an unoccupied classroom and study without a teacher in the room. That was new. Also, the atmosphere is much more relaxed, though there is still a lot of stress come test time. I still haven't fully gotten used to the freedom in high school, but it's great.

Why I chose College Prep: Well honestly, I've wanted to come here since I was a little kid and I drove past it on the way to middle school. So there was no choice. I'd think to myself, "It's so pretty and so close to College Ave. and wow!" So when I applied to high schools, once I got in at College Prep, I knew I would go immediately.

Why I'm glad I chose College Prep: It's such a rewarding school. College Prep is just fantastic. I feel that I am very close to my classmates, and not just my classmates, I also have a great bond with all my friends, older and younger. Also, academically, I have a ton of fun in class. The teachers love to teach and it makes the material that much more interesting.

Favorite place on campus: The gym, because I love playing sports. I can kick a ball, shoot a basketball, even play soccer. There are just so many things I can do.

Campus involvement: I played soccer, basketball, and volleyball this past year. I love sports, and apart from playing sports, it helps me make friends with kids younger and older. The bond that I feel with my teammates is just great, and I often hang out with my teammates around campus, not just on the field or court.

Favorite class: I can't decide among history, science, and math. There are just so many great teachers and they make everything so interesting. This year I might have to say science because I love chemistry, but I find it to be an incredibly hard choice. I don't like picking favorites.

Favorite thing about College Prep: The aspect of community. I always can depend on my friends and faculty for a nice talk, or help with homework. I have also enjoyed competing with my friends to do better in school. This competition has helped me elevate my academic level. This is not to say we don't help each other a lot, because I know that I can always rely on them for help. Even teachers ask for help sometimes, and that reminds me that we all learn at College Prep.

Coolest (spring/summer/winter) break experience: I have loved Snow Trip with my friends, and I love being with my friends going down the mountain. I also loved cooking for them this past year. It's nice to get out of the school environment with the school. You see another side of people when they are out of school.

Favorite character from a movie/book/television series: I wish I could be James Bond, just because he gets to wear a tuxedo all the time. He pulls it off well. Gadgets would be nice too.

Three unusual things about myself:
Well, I'm a rebel so I'll say two things about myself:
  1. I always go to bed around ten and I always wake up around seven. Including weekends. Though there are exceptions.
  2. I prefer biking places. It helps the environment (and my parents don't always give me the car.) There is nothing like flying down a hill and having your eyes water up because there is so much wind in your face.
