Book Fair Chair

The Book Fair Chairs are responsible for the planning and implementation of the Book Fair, traditionally held in March.  She / he:

1.    Attends monthly Parents’ Association Board meetings.

2.    Organizes parent volunteers for the collection of books, sorting of the books into the different categories (ongoing as they come in, usually done on the weekends or during the week if possible), set up of the  books  for the Fair, the shifts for the days of the Fair and cleanup.

3.    Works with the President of the Board and CPS staff for the calendar date usually on a Friday, Saturday and Sunday in early March.

4.    Publicizes and promotes the Book Fair through writing articles in the Periscope and community newspapers such as The Monclarion and the Oakland Tribune and posting of signs in strategic areas such as in Montclair and in front of the school.

5.    Works with the school for storage and removal of books.

6.    Is responsible for handling the moneys; checks and signs off on the budget amount with the Treasurer of the Board and provides receipts or detailed list for reimbursements.

7.    Updates and clears out materials to be passed on to the next Book Fair chairs.
