Zip Code Parties Chair

The chair of this committee is responsible for finding hosts for these parties, traditionally held Labor Day Weekend and sometimes the weekend before Labor day, and sending flyers and aiding the hosts in organizing this event.  She / He:

1.    Attends monthly Parents’ Association Board meetings.

2.    Identifies geographic areas for approximately 5 parties and finds hosts for these parties at the beginning of the summer, preferably before the end of the school.

3.    Contacts families in the different Zip Codes by flyers (designed by the chairs) and/or by e-mails and calls to the families to welcome them and encourage them to come.  Stress that this is a great opportunity to meet other CPS families and to perhaps arrange car pools. Try to have Zip Code lists at the parties to hand out.

4.    Encourages Board members to attend various parties and to make these parties welcoming and inclusive.

5.    Writes an article for the Periscope about these parties. If the hosts families are found before the Periscope summer mailing deadline (in June) put it in the summer Periscope issue and also write an article after the parties are given.

6.    Writes thank you notes to the families who hosted the parties.

7.    Writes a report for future referral.

8.    Checks and signs off on the budget amount with the Treasurer of the Board and provides receipts or detailed list for reimbursements.

9.    Updates materials to be passed on to the next Zip Code Parties Chair.
