Community Service

College Prep students have a long history of involvement in community service. Although there is no requirement, student participation is high.

Overview of Service and Community Based Learning Program

The theme for the year for the College Preparatory School Service and Community Based Learning Program is “designing for interdependence” in which we will explore creative problem solving and visionary thinking at the crossroads between self and other, innovation and tradition, success and well-being, and human need and environmental health. We live in an incredible moment in history when we must investigate how to build new systems and manifest an ethically driven worldview at the intersection of old knowledge and new technology. We want to prepare our students to be able to develop solutions to our generation’s many pressing social, economic, and environmental problems. Through forums, all class service learning projects and retreats, and ongoing service and community based learning initiatives involving various levels of time commitment, we will spend the year exploring the many local and global points of connection to addressing the ways to design a better world.
