Naming Opportunities

Opportunities for New Endowed Funds

Establishing a new named fund requires a minimum gift of $100,000.  We are open to discussing new approaches that motivate prospective donors. Gifts to the school may be given over time and cumulate: the name of a new fund will be applied when the threshold level is reached. School policy is to offer a variety of recognition options, and providing the name for a new fund/capital improvement is one form of recognition available.  Names of permanent funds will be published annually in the College Prep Newsletter/Annual Report and will be featured periodically in articles in various school publications and communications.

In addition, named funds will be acknowledged in ways consistent with their purposes: named scholarship funds, for example, may be assigned to a student who will be in contact with the donor and invited to be publicly identified as benefiting from that fund. Named buildings or other capital improvements will be identified with a plaque.  Other opportunities for recognition are available.

Donors may want to consider the following new endowment fund possibilities:

Financial aid funds:
$550,000 will fund an annual full scholarship ($27,000/year)
$275,000 will fund half a scholarship annually ($13,500/year)
$137,500 will fund a one-quarter scholarship annually ($6,750/year)

Student activity support fund (non-tuition financial aid)
$500,000 will help to provide financial-aid students access to all school activities (i.e., Intraterm, retreats, arts outings, class trips, etc.) ($12,500/year)

Faculty chairs:
$1,000,000 will designate a named chair to support a teacher and to pay all or most of that person’s salary for the term of the honor.

All gifts are subject to approval by the school to ensure that each gift is consistent with the donors’ goals and the school’s mission, values, philosophy, and stated policies.  The school’s Gift Acceptance Policy sets the policies and procedures for accepting gifts and the Investment and Spending Policies state how funds are managed and used by the school.
