The Mens Conscia Recti Society

The College Preparatory School is proud to announce the inauguration of the Mens Conscia Recti Society. The name and the school's motto, Latin for "a mind aware of what is right," reflects the informed moral alertness that is basic to the mission of CPS. The society will recognize those benefactors of the school who, because they believe deeply in what the school does, wish to ensure its future through a planned gift. Such gifts may be established though a will, a charitable remainder trust, an estate plan, or an insurance policy. Gifts of securities or real estate are also welcome.

Planned gifts benefit CPS and provide valuable philanthopic and tax-saving opportunities for donors. Planned gifts may be made to the school's general endowment or may be designated to support a particular fund or program. A substantial gift could be used to support operations, endow a faculty chair, or establish a memorial. CPS has already benefited from several bequests and a portion of a charitable remainder trust.

Each of these has been a wonderful, unrestricted, "surprise." If you have already planned a gift to CPS, we would like to recognize you. If you are considering making the College Preparatory School the recipient of a planned gift and would like some guidance, please contact Mary O'Neill in the Development Office at (510) 420-2331 or e-mail her at mary_oneill@college-prep.org. We will formally recognize all members of the Mens Conscia Recti Society with a listing of their names or their preference as anonymous in the CPS Newsletter.

Membership in the Mens Conscia Recti Society will serve as a source of insiration and encouragement to others who are considering a similar gift. Making a bequest to CPS will give participants the satisfaction of knowing that, because of their planning and thoughtfulness, CPS will continue to educate its students so that they will always strive to be aware of what is right.
