Victor D. Rosen Collection in History and Political Science

Victor D. Rosen (1928-2007) was Chairman of the College Prep Board of Trustees from 1969 to 1972. His four children attended College Prep, and his family has now funded the Victor D. The Marvin Smith Multicultural Collection

Marvin Smith, father of Ricky Smith '04, was a leader in the Oakland community and beyond on issues of diversity. The Marvin Smith Multicultural Collection commemorates his life and activism and places special emphasis on scholarship highlighting experiences of a wide variety of American ethnic groups.  This collection was developed through collaboration between the Parent Diversity Committee, the library and many other members of the College Prep community.  All items can be found in the library and non-reference materials may be borrowed at any time. Helen Green Turin Memorial Collection in Architecture and the Arts

Helen Green Turin was the mother of Abigail Turin, class of 1989, and wife ofGeorge Turin, who was a trustee at College Prep. Former College Prep librarian Betsy Schultz and Mr. Turin worked together to build a collection focused on visual arts and architecture. To see a list of titles, visit the library catalog online.
The Marie Calvert Collection was donated in memory of student Marie Calvert '72, who died of a rare kidney disease in 1971.

The Janet Schwarz Collection consists of items funded or donated in honor of the school's former head (1994-1999).

Several other commemorative plaques decorate the library:
  • The Berlekamp Reference Room, dedicated 2002 to honor the contributions of Jennifer and Elwyn Berlekamp (parents of David '01)
  • The Founders Room, dedicated in honor of school founders Mary Harley Jenks and Ruth Willis
  • The Schwarz Reading Room, in honor of Janet Schwarz
