As of this letter, NCS has declared December 14, 2020 a tentative start date for the fall season. The winter/spring season will start on February 22, 2021 or March 15, 2021 depending on the sport. We will announce the specifics of these seasons once all of the details are finalized. Please keep in mind that these starting dates are tentative and subject to change.
In the meantime, our athletic program will offer three 4-week long training sessions based on our traditional sports season. This program is for those student-athletes who wish to earn Recreation, Health, and Fitness (RHF) credit through our interscholastic athletics program. Students who do not choose to be part of our interscholastic training program will be placed in the RHF program. Training sessions will either be in-person or distance based depending on the College Prep's health status. Students will earn 0.5 units for each completed training session. Attendance is mandatory. Training sessions will be four days a week for 60-90 minutes of conditioning and skill development based on the specific sport.
Each team will be divided into small cohorts of no more than 12 people: 11 athletes and 1 coach. While College Prep is in distance learning, students can expect two after school synchronous Zoom meetings and two asynchronous work-outs. Once allowed, all in-person training will be after school Monday/Tuesday and Thursday/Friday. Each session will follow the recommended safety guidelines for working out from the Alameda County Public Health and our athletic governing bodies.
