• Advanced Vocal Ensemble

  Advanced Vocal Ensemble (AVE) is a small group of advanced singers who perform regularly on and off campus. AVE sings music of many styles, including classical and world music, and often divides into smaller a cappella ensembles. Admission to the group is by audition. 

• Chamber Music

  Chamber Music features advanced instrumentalists playing music in small groups. The class meets during the day with additional rehearsals before performances. In addition to the chamber ensemble, students in this class also rehearse and perform with the Orchestra.  

• Beginning Instruments

  Beginning Instruments introduces students to instrumental music while building foundational playing and music-reading skills. No prior musical experience is required. Students choose from a variety of instruments, including guitar, electric bass, piano, drums, as well as band and orchestra instruments. Students provide their own instruments with the exception of drums and piano. 

• Chorus

  Chorus is open to all students who want to sing. Participants learn choral and vocal techniques while singing music from a variety of periods and styles. The curriculum engages both novice and experienced singers. The class participates in one major concert each semester. 

• Intermediate Instruments

  Intermediate Instruments students collaborate musically in a variety of configurations. Classes work on classic, current, and original material in contemporary musical genres including rock, pop, blues, hip-hop, funk, reggae, punk, and metal.

• Orchestra

  Orchestra is open to all instrumentalists who have prior training. The group rehearses standard and pop repertoires and performs at school concerts and other on-campus events. 

• Jazz Band

  Students in this performing ensemble explore many musical styles while developing improvisational technique. Open to intermediate and advanced players on traditional jazz instruments (and non-traditional by audition), the Jazz Band tours and performs with the choral students.
