Why did you choose College Prep? I could see how genuinely interested and engaged students were in learning. Through the classes I shadowed and panels I listened to, I could tell that everyone truly wanted to be there and was dedicated to their education. I was drawn to the hands-on, independent nature of many courses (like math and science), and to the discussion-based English classes that use a Harkness table.

What advice would you give to 8th graders applying to high school? When deciding what schools to apply to and attend, trust your instincts and don’t let the opinions of people around you sway your decision too much. It's important to go somewhere you're excited about because that's where you'll be happiest!

What is your favorite place on campus? I love the corner of the music lawn near the debate office. The colorful deck chairs and pleasant shade make it a very relaxing area.

What are you involved in on campus? I am on the Girls Tennis team, which has been an awesome way to play my favorite sport, while also meeting so many new people! Since the season starts before the school year begins, it's a great way to meet people in different grades. I also do Public Forum debate and have gotten to partner and compete with some of my best friends. The music program is also incredible! I've played the piano in the orchestra (big group performances) and our chamber music program (duets or trios). Clubs are also an amazing part of our school, whether they are affinity spaces, like SWIRL: Students with Interracial Lives, or fun clubs, like Baking Club.

What is your favorite thing about College Prep? I love the community here! There is a lot of grade-mixing, so you can be friends with people who are older or younger than you. Both the students and teachers are super friendly and welcoming.

What is your favorite character from a movie/book/television series? Katniss Everdeen. The Hunger Games was my favorite series in 6th grade.

Three unusual things about me:
1. I love Altoids mints and will finish a box in less than 2 days.
2. I have two senior rescue basset hounds.
3. I'm scared of electric saws.
