We are so excited for you to bring your creativity, curiosity, kindness, and intellect to College Prep this fall. We can't wait for the friendships you'll build and the ways you'll grow together.
IMPORTANT INFORMATION TO START YOUR COLLEGE PREP JOURNEY If you have any questions about the items below, please contact the Admission Office at admissions@college-prep.org or 510.652.4364.
All incoming students should sign up for both an online course selection session and an in-person math placement test.
We also offer optional world language placement tests for students who wish to continue previous study in Latin, Mandarin, or Spanish.
Students taking both math and world language placement tests may complete them on the same day or on different days.
Course selection sessions may be scheduled either before or after placement testing—the order does not matter.
All course selection sessions will be held online via Zoom. Placement tests will take place in person on campus after school.
If you have any questions or need to arrange testing accommodations, please contact the Admission Office at 510.652.4364 or admissions@college-prep.org.
An administrator will walk incoming students through the course selection process, answer questions, and review elective options for ninth graders.
Before attending, students should review the Course Selection Guide, which includes helpful information for choosing classes.
All sessions will be held online via Zoom.
All students are required to take a math placement test to determine the course (Math 1 or Math 2) that will best support their learning.
The test is one hour and will be administered in person on campus after school. We recommend that students review these topics in advance.
A small number of students may be invited to return at a later date for a second placement test to assess readiness for Math 3 or beyond.
Students should bring a pencil. Calculators and other electronic devices are not permitted.
World language placement tests are available for students who wish to continue previous study in Latin, Mandarin (Chinese), or Spanish. These assessments help determine the course level that will best support each student’s learning.
Students who plan to begin a Level I course do not need to take a placement test. Each placement includes two components: a written assessment and a short conversation with a College Prep language teacher. All tests will be administered in person on campus after school.
Hello and welcome to College Prep from the Student Life team! We are hosting a New Student Welcome on Sunday, April 26, 2026 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at College Prep and encourage all 9th graders to attend. This social event is a great opportunity for our incoming students to meet, build connections, and share a meal (with gluten free/veggie options) together. What a great way to launch into summer!
