What's the biggest difference between middle school and high school? The workload and quality of the work I was expected to produce. Going to a challenging school where everyone is the best from their middle schools forced me to be more thoughtful in my ideas in my homework and conversations during classes. It was definitely challenging in the beginning, but over time it has gotten easier to manage.

Why are you glad that you chose College Prep? I chose Prep because of the community I felt when I visited. On my shadow visit I felt welcomed into every class, having students introduce themselves and help me through the classes. The teachers also included me in their conversations and showed me the wonderful academics at Prep. My hosts were also extremely  kind, showing  me around, and even offering to buy me something from the bake sale. This great experience I felt when I visited really motivated me to choose College Prep.

What advice do you have for 8th graders applying to high school? Just be yourself. Make sure in your essays, your work is authentic and ideas are your own. Don’t worry if your grades aren’t the best. Just make sure to put a lot of thought into your essays, and edit and revise them thoroughly, and make sure to make a good impression in your interviews. But make sure not to stress too much, in the end, you will end up at the school that’ll suit you best.

What campus activities are you involved in? Volleyball and Dance. Volleyball is a great team sport that I love to play with my friends. I also tried dance for the first time here and I have really enjoyed it. It has helped me open up, trying something new I’ve never done.

What is your favorite place on campus? I love how open the campus is, and really like spending time outside at the picnic tables in the courtyard. I think it’s a great place to work and to spend time outdoors with your friends.

What has been your favorite class? I’ve really enjoyed Physics because I love to learn about how the world works around me; learning the physics of friction and gravity is really interesting to me. I also like the interactiveness of labs which are a very fun way to learn.

What has been the best thing about College Prep? The community. Everyone is so friendly and welcoming and I always enjoy every day here. It has really become a second home where I feel so comfortable being myself where I can openly to to my peers and reach out to my teachers.
